Crashed into a police car: Three injured

Due to a wild animal that had already died, a police officer in East Tyrol braked the police car, the driver behind was unable to react as quickly, resulting in a rear-end collision. Three people were injured and the policewoman even had to be flown to Innsbruck University Hospital.

On St. Mary's Day at around 9.20 a.m., a 36-year-old policewoman was driving a patrol car uphill on Asslinger Straße in the municipality of Assling from the direction of Thal towards Assling. A 53-year-old colleague from the Lienz police station was in the passenger seat; they were on their way to monitor an event in Assling.

In a right-hand bend, the driver of the police vehicle braked in front of an obstacle on the road, a wild animal that had already died. The driver (51) of the car behind was unable to stop in time and the car crashed into the police vehicle. 

Both police officers and the passenger (49) of the following vehicle were injured.

The policewoman had to be flown to Innsbruck University Hospital by the emergency helicopter team after receiving first aid at the scene of the accident. The two other injured persons were taken to hospital in Lienz. Both vehicles sustained considerable material damage.
