Mushroom hunter (72) falls 100 meters to his death

A 72-year-old man and his son went mushroom hunting in Vorarlberg on Saturday afternoon and it came to a terrible end. The duo chose different routes on their descent in the municipality of Klästerle, which proved to be fatal for the father.

The 72-year-old from Vorarlberg was "mushroom hunting" with his son in the Batzigg area on Saturday afternoon when they agreed to choose different routes for the descent.

After the son could no longer reach his father by phone, he set off in search of him and discovered the 72-year-old's body in steep terrain. He immediately set the rescue chain in motion, but the emergency doctor from the Christophorus 8 rescue helicopter was alerted and could only determine that the man had died.

According to the police, it is still unclear how the fatal incident occurred. The fact is that the 72-year-old had fallen a good 100 meters through steep forest and rocky terrain.
