Mysterious landing
US helicopter at Tyrolean hut: trail into the red-light district
The background to the illegal landing of the US helicopter at the beginning of July at the Jamtalhütte near Galtür in Tyrol is becoming increasingly spectacular: in addition to a lead to Iraq, the focus is now also shifting to the foreign red-light district.
The pilot, who is resident in Iraq, landed the helicopter with US registration at the refuge near Galtür, allegedly because a warning light had come on. As the "Krone" reported, a female passenger also got out of the aircraft with an unusual trolley case for the terrain. The duo spent the night in the refuge of the German Alpine Club and then flew on again the following day.
Red light - but probably not in the cockpit
Now - the authorities doubt that a lamp was actually lit. Nevertheless, red light may have played a decisive role in the SA341 Gazelle aircraft touching down next to the hut at 2165 meters in the Silvretta.
