Sexist statement: Olympic commentator fired!

The British TV channel Eurosport has dismissed its Olympic commentator Bob Ballard after he made a sexist statement. 

He had made an "inappropriate comment" during a broadcast, according to a statement from the broadcaster, quoted by the British news agency PA. "For this reason, he has been removed from our commentary schedule with immediate effect."

Ballard did not initially comment on the criticism or the broadcaster's decision. In his live commentary on the swimming competitions at the Summer Games in Paris, the journalist had made a comment about Australian swimmers who had previously won gold in the 4x100-meter crawl relay.

"You know what women are like ..."
"The women have just finished. You know what women are like: They hang around and put on makeup," he said. This statement was widely criticized on social networks.
