Pensioner threatened with a knife while going to church

On Sunday morning in Mattighofen, a robber threatened an 83-year-old woman on her way to church with a 20-centimeter-long knife and demanded her handbag. When the woman refused and a local resident intervened, the perpetrator fled on an e-scooter.

An attempted aggravated robbery took place in Mattighofen at around 9.15 a.m. on Sunday. An unknown person observed the 83-year-old victim at the Mattighofen town square as she was walking from the church towards Rosengasse. The unknown man followed the victim on an e-scooter and stopped her at Rosengasse 2. He then demanded that she hand over her handbag several times.

20 centimeter long knife hidden in the jacket pocket
When the victim complied, he pulled a 20-centimeter-long knife from his jacket pocket and threatened the pensioner with it. A previously unknown resident of the surrounding houses noticed the incident and shouted at the perpetrator, causing him to stop what he was doing and flee in the direction of the town square with the e-scooter. The victim was not injured in the incident.

The incident was not reported until two hours later
A manhunt was unsuccessful due to the two-hour delay in reporting the incident. The Mattighofen police station is asking witnesses - especially the unknown resident - to contact them in person or by calling 059133 4207.
