Guests start festival marathon with Currentzis

Standing out - that seems to have been the motto of Greek-Russian conductor Teodor Currentzis and many Festival visitors in the past. 

This year, however, nothing of the sort was observed at the opening concert of the Festival with the St. Matthew Passion on Friday evening in the Haus für Mozart. Neither the star conductor nor the guests. Perhaps to conserve energy for the Festival, which has only just begun.

"We will see everything this year. That should be around 25 performances in total," says the highly motivated cultural manager Eva-Maria Baroness von Schilgen-Arnsberg.

As if they had made an agreement, gallery owner and son of Georg Baselitz, Daniel Blau, is also planning to visit almost all the events on the program. "That's why we moved to Salzburg, so that we could create this dense program," he jokes.

So both of them will probably be back for the next premiere this evening. Then it will be Jedermann again in Salzburg city center.
