Serial burglars caught red-handed

The police were able to put an end to a series of burglaries in Vorarlberg on Monday: A 21-year-old thief was caught by the officers. 

At around 11.45 a.m. last Monday, the occupant of a detached house in Göfis heard a clanging noise in the living room. Shortly afterwards, she saw a man jump on a moped in front of the house and speed off. The woman informed the police, who immediately ordered a manhunt with several police patrols.

Thanks to a number of tips from the public, a 21-year-old man was caught red-handed in another burglary shortly afterwards and arrested. He had stolen cash as well as several stolen keys and burglary tools with him.

Investigations also revealed that the criminal had stolen the moped at the train station in Sulz on the same day, and another burglary in Hörbranz could also be attributed to him.
