Viennese district politicians attacked with eggs

In the Viennese district of Simmering, the SPÖ district leader and his deputy were attacked with eggs at a family party. The incident took place last Saturday, as the party announced in a press release. They filed a complaint.

The deputy district leader of Simmering, Ramona Miletic (SPÖ), was hit on the head by an egg. Another egg is also believed to have landed on an SPÖ vehicle. According to a media report, the animal products were thrown from a balcony, but no one was seen. The incident took place last Saturday on Svetelskyplatz in Vienna-Simmering.

"Contradicts respectful dialog"
 "The attack contradicts the principles of respectful and constructive dialog. We urgently need more tolerance and respect in our dealings with one another. Political diversity is the guarantor of a strong democracy," said Ramona Miletic, who was attacked.

"We are all ready for constructive debate and discussion. Any threats, hatred, vandalism and violence against political actors have no place in the district and are to be condemned (...)", said Simmering district leader Thomas Steinhart. The party filed a complaint.
