After storm warning

Two mudslides, otherwise the night was calm

The night to Thursday was calmer than expected for the emergency services in Tyrol: after a severe weather warning, there were some heavy thunderstorms here and there, but apparently no major incidents of damage occurred. There were only two minor mudslides in the Oberland.

GeoSphere Austria had issued a thunderstorm warning (warning level "orange", level 3 of 4) for parts of the country on Wednesday! Heavy rain, hail and squalls could lead to damage and dangerous scenes. This was particularly expected in the border area with Bavaria and in the districts of Kufstein and Kitzbühel.

Quiet night for emergency services
As the Tyrol control center explained to the "Krone" early on Thursday morning, the night in the province was calm for the emergency services in terms of thunderstorms and severe weather. There were no major operations.

Mudslides caused road closures
There were only two mudslides in the Landeck district due to heavy rain. According to the police, the B197 Arlbergstraße in the area of the Marienwasengalerie and the Piller Landesstraße in the area of the Schlachthof curve were affected.

The B197 had to be completely closed to traffic from 10.30 pm until around 1 am. The affected area was then only passable in one lane until 2 am. The Piller Landesstraße was closed for around 1.5 hours from 11 p.m. due to clean-up work.
