Traffic jam looms on A10

Four German federal states start their vacations

One week after the end of school in Salzburg, traffic jams are imminent again. Numerous German holidaymakers are likely to be on the Tauernautobahn this weekend. The Dutch are also heading towards the sea.

Columns of traffic can be expected on the Tauernautobahn towards the weekend. On Saturday, the summer vacations begin for schoolchildren in the German states of Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. Parts of the Netherlands also go on vacation at the same time, and countless holidaymakers from there will also be heading for the Adriatic via Salzburg.

The start of the vacations will not be without consequences for the transit routes in Austria this time either. The ÖAMTC and ARBÖ motorists' clubs are warning of the increased volume of traffic. The A10 will be closed until the end of the summer vacation. They are intended to protect the congested communities on the A10 from traffic jam evaders.
