Alpine drama: German (65) falls to his death

It is already the second fatal alpine accident that occurred in Tyrol on Thursday. A member of the German Alpine Club fell about 200 meters to his death while working on a snow field in the Ötztal.

A pitch-black Thursday for Tyrol's alpinists: a 65-year-old German fell to his death on Thursday. Five members of the German Alpine Club were carrying out work in the area of the Ramolhaus in the municipality of Sölden/Obergurgl when they crossed a snowfield.

Collided with boulders
One member of the group, the same 65-year-old, fell about 200 meters over the snow field. He collided with several boulders and came to rest in the scree below. He suffered fatal head injuries in the fall. All help came too late.
