SPÖ Vorarlberg presents housing plans

"The black-green state government has failed miserably with its goal of creating 4,000 apartments in this legislative period and the housing situation in Vorarlberg has become unbearable for many people," raged SPÖ leader Mario Leiter. In order to make housing more affordable again, he presented a 5-point plan in Hard on Thursday. 

In addition to the construction of 11,000 new non-profit apartments over the next five years, the plan also provides for the promotion of rent-to-own models.

In addition, Leiter envisages the construction of intergenerational housing, assisted living apartments and senior citizens' shared apartments in cooperation with NGOs. And the introduction of a minimum number of affordable apartments in each municipality could also help to calm the situation on the housing market. Last but not least, Leiter advocates a "Vorarlberg House" for students in Vienna, Graz and Innsbruck.
