The far-right is on the brink of a historic victory, the police warn of a "conflagration". On June 30 and July 7, France will elect a new parliament following Macron's surprise coup - the country is threatened with chaos. What was the president thinking? A France expert revealed it to Krone+. 

It was an act that sent the "Grande Nation" into a frenzy. Following his party's disastrous performance in the EU elections on June 9, French President Emmanuel Macron dissolved parliament and called new elections. Marine Le Pen's far-right party Rassemblement National (RN) had become the strongest force with 31.5 percent of the vote, while Macron's Renaissance movement only achieved 15.2 percent.
