This is why destroying flags is not a trivial offense

They are torn up, cut up and burned. The degradation of Israeli flags also reflects the Middle East conflict in Austria - as was recently the case in Graz. However, this is not a trivial offense. The "Krone" explains the legal consequences.

"Anyone who hatefully disparages a flag of a foreign state in such a way that the act becomes known to the general public is liable to a prison sentence of up to six months or a fine of up to 360 daily rates" - this is Section 317 of the Austrian Criminal Code, according to which the tearing down, cutting up or burning of flags, for example, is punishable.
