Dominic Thiem now wants to devote himself to a “topic close to his heart”

Dominic Thiem is at peace with his decision to retire. In the future, the soon-to-be tennis retiree wants to focus on his "favorite topic" of the environment and sustainability, said Thiem at the 4GameChangers Festival in Vienna. "It was always a bit difficult to reconcile all the traveling with my job as a tennis player," said the 30-year-old on the podium on the topic of "The future of more sustainable air travel".

The athlete, who has long been involved in various environmental and sustainability projects, said he was looking forward to doing something "completely different" after his career ends this season.

"Taking a new path"
"Unfortunately, I'll never be able to do anything as well as tennis again," said the former world number three. But: "At 31, I still have so much time to fully immerse myself in a second topic. I want to work specifically on the topic of the environment/sustainability, take a keen interest in it, learn about it every day and take a new path."
