Bitter for Germany! Bayern kicker threatened with European Championship exit

The German national coach Julian Nagelsmann will probably have to plan for the European Football Championship without Bayern kicker Serge Gnabry. The 28-year-old suffered a torn muscle bundle in the match against Real Madrid. 

According to a club statement on Friday, the FC Bayern Munich attacking player suffered a torn muscle bundle in his left rear thigh in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. Gnabry will miss coach Thomas Tuchel's side's two Bundesliga games on Sunday against VfL Wolfsburg and then at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Bad luck of the season
The German record champions have not predicted how long the 28-year-old will be sidelined. However, as a torn muscle bundle takes several weeks to heal and Gnabry has been out of action several times this season, a European Championship nomination is almost out of the question. The European Championship kicks off on June 14 with Germany's opening match against Scotland.

Gnabry, who last played for the national team in November in the defeats against Turkey (2:3) and Austria (0:2), has been absent through injury several times this season. After hip problems, a broken forearm and a brief illness last year, he had to sit out three times with muscle injuries. After making his comeback in February after a long break, he had to take another two-week break in April.
