Fuss about the queen
Bees out of control: attack on small bus
The loud buzzing and humming could not be ignored. In the middle of the main square in Stadtschlaining, a whole swarm of bees attacked the bus belonging to the Zukunft Schlaining association and laid siege to the mobile advertising medium for the Klangfrühling. A beekeeper was called for help.
The unusual incident caused quite a stir. Hundreds of nectar collectors suddenly pounced on a parked minibus with the "Klangfrühling" advertising sign on it and were literally stuck to the bodywork, crowded together. A local beekeeper was alerted and had to rush to the rescue.
"It was only when I discovered the queen bee and was able to move her into a basket that her colony slowly followed without resistance," the rescuer explains. How the surprise "attack" came about is still completely unclear.
In any case, cultural manager Werner Glösl took it with humor: "The bees obviously love the Klangfrühling!"
