Stone wants to be addressed by her real name

If you are ever lucky enough to meet Emma Stone in person, be sure to address her by her real name. The Oscar winner attaches great importance to this.

For non-Hollywood insiders: the actress was born Emily Jean Stone. The first name Emma is a stage name that the 35-year-old had to adopt after she joined the actors' union SAG.

She told the Hollywood Reporter: "There was already another actress in SAG with my name. But being called Emma got on my nerves at some point. And I said to everyone: 'I can't do it anymore, please call me Emily'."

Close friends even get around the Emma-Emily issue altogether by calling Stone by her nickname: Em. 

Used to want to be Baby Spice
Back in November 2018, however, Stone said that when she was younger, she wanted to be called Emma because of her favorite Spice Girl: Baby Spice, also known as Emma Bunton.

"When I was growing up, I was super blonde and my real name is Emily, but because of Baby Spice I wanted to be called Emma, and you know what? Now it's me," said the "Poor Things" star during an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon".
