With a protest march, demonstrators from the "Last Generation" brought afternoon traffic in Klagenfurt's city center to a standstill on Monday - and many drivers on their way home to a standstill.

On Earth Day, representatives of the "Last Generation" wanted to draw attention to the fact that the government is still acting far too slowly when it comes to climate protection with a march through Klagenfurt. And as a result, the participants moved just as slowly along the Völkermarkter Ring. For countless drivers, the journey home from work became a time-consuming and nerve-wracking ordeal.

"It's time we demanded our right to survive. We want sensible, socially just climate policy, and we want it now. For politicians to finally take action, we need people from civil society, like you and me, to stand up for what is important to us - for the future of us all," explained one protester. At the end, the protesters set up a tent to symbolize that they would not leave until climate protection was written into the constitution. It remained a symbolic threat.
