Occupants uninjured
Car ended up on its roof in an accident and caught fire
The two 20-year-olds in East Tyrol, who were able to free themselves from the car that started to burn after a spectacular traffic accident, must have had a guardian angel with them.
A 20-year-old local woman was driving her car on the Drautalstraße towards Abfaltersbach at around 4.50 pm on Sunday. A 20-year-old local man was also in the car. For unknown reasons, the car crashed into the crash barrier in Leisach, flipped onto its driver's side and skidded 25 meters before coming to rest on its roof.
Self-extrication from the car
While the occupants were still in the vehicle, a fire broke out in the engine compartment. However, the two 20-year-olds were able to free themselves from the car in time and passers-by provided first aid. While a police patrol arrived at the scene of the accident and successfully fought the fire, the occupants of the car were taken to hospital in Lienz. As it turned out, they were uninjured.
Drautalstraße completely closed
The Drautalstraße had to be completely closed at times until 6 pm. The vehicle was a total loss.
