Netflix series “The Witcher” ends with season 5

Netflix has started production on the fourth season of the Polish-American fantasy series "The Witcher". The streaming service announced this on Thursday. At the same time, it was announced that the fifth season would also be filmed immediately afterwards - as the final chapter in the saga.

They are looking forward to bringing the saga to an "epic and compelling" conclusion with an "outstanding" cast, said series creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The series is based on the three novels "Baptism of Fire", "The Swallow Tower" and "The Lady of the Lake" from the "Witcher" series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

At the center of "The Witcher" is the warlock Geralt von Riva, who has to survive numerous adventures as a monster hunter. In the first three seasons, the British actor Henry Cavill (40) was on board as the main character; from now on, the Australian Liam Hemsworth (34) will take on this role. Freya Allan as Princess Cirilla and the sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) are still on board.

The fantasy series was launched on Netflix at the end of December 2019. The third season was released last summer.
