Cyclist exhausted in the snow: alarm for mountain rescue team
On Friday, the Ehrwald mountain rescue team in Tyrol had to come to the aid of a cyclist (41) who had overestimated his ability during a bike tour in the border region with Bavaria. He had ended up on a snow-covered road and was so exhausted that he could no longer continue.
The 41-year-old German actually wanted to cycle from Mittenwald in Bavaria via Garmisch to the Ehrwalder Alm and from there via the Gaistal valley between Ehrwald and Leutasch back to Mittenwald. But he didn't get that far: shortly before 5 p.m., the man found himself in the Gaistal valley around 100 meters before the Gaistal valley station at around 1540 meters above sea level.
The cyclist was in the Gaistal valley at around 1540 meters above sea level when he was unable to make any further progress due to the snowy road, exhaustion and poor equipment and made an emergency call.
