Childless families, one-child families, patchwork families, one-person families, same-sex legal guardians, non-marital family communities, polyamorous families with more than one partnership and at least three adults, senior citizens or widows who form partnerships so that they have it easier together - there is nothing that does not exist in family life today.

Families are as colorful as life itself - and yet they have similar and often different needs. In our new journal "Modern Family", we explore the questions that arise every day in family life. We show the many facets of modern families in Austria, describe the positive aspects of everyday family life and provide tips for a healthy and happy life together.

Families, as colorful as life itself
Whether it's a traditional family, single parent or patchwork family - every type of family has its own unique charms, opportunities and challenges in everyday life. This has always been the case, even in very early times, when families were primarily seen as alliances and communities in which everyone had different tasks to fulfill. What were once economically based relationships only later became romantic relationships.

Today, "family" encompasses a variety of relationship forms and life situations, but they all still share the core of family bonding and support: forming a social and emotional community that is ideally characterized by support, love and belonging.
