Car engine caught fire while driving
The driver had probably not expected the abrupt end to his journey - and his car - on Friday. As he was driving on the L203 in Hohenems, the engine caught fire. A short time later, the vehicle was only worth scrap metal.
Smoke was billowing from the engine compartment as the 56-year-old driver was traveling from Götzis on the L203 towards the Hornbach traffic circle on Friday.
The driver quickly pulled into the parking lot of the nearby DIY store, got out and alerted the Hohenems fire department, who were able to extinguish the fire quickly, but the vehicle was totaled.
No injuries
No one was injured in the incident. The Hohenems volunteer fire department with three vehicles and 25 men and the federal police with three vehicles and six men were involved in the operation.
