In the absence of top star Jarl-Magnus Riiber, who was already the overall winner, Austria's strong Nordic combined athletes celebrated an impressive double victory at the end of the season. World Cup title defender Johannes Lamparter won after 22:32.0 minutes and thus celebrated his 14th World Cup victory. Only Felix Gottwald (23 victories) is ahead of him among the Austrians. Stefan Rettenegger finished second, 9.2 seconds behind Lamparter.
The duo thus celebrated another double victory, just like two weeks ago in Lahti. "It was a perfect day for me. I jumped together with Stefan at a really high level. And the race was also really good, we always had a good lead on the others behind," said Lamparter to the FIS. "I was able to pull away on the last climb, which felt good," he added.
He was particularly pleased because he managed to do this in front of his parents. "That tastes good. It's always good to finish in the top 3. Congratulations also to Stefan and especially to Jarl, it was a fantastic season for him." Lamparter has drawn level with Klaus Sulzenbacher in the all-time Austrian leaderboard.
With Lukas Greiderer and Franz-Josef Rehrl in eighth and tenth place, a total of four ÖSV athletes made it into the top ten. Rehrl was in third place for a long time, but was passed by after more than three quarters of the race.
Rettenegger and Lamparter, who celebrated four wins this season, are now on the podium in the overall standings after all 21 events. They finished second and third behind season dominator Riiber. Head coach Christoph Eugen's Austrian team was also able to celebrate victory in the Nations Cup.
