Koza pays for diversion
Public prosecutor closes investigation against mayor
A bombshell in the Vösendorf ÖVP mayor's "accounts affair": just under two months before the forced re-election, the public prosecutor has now closed the investigation against Hannes Koza. He was accused of embezzlement, abuse of office, falsification of documents and incitement to hatred
The Vienna Public Prosecutor's Office made a surprisingly quick decision: All investigations against Mayor Hannes Koza have been dropped. The dispute had started with a posting against the Vienna Children's Friends - whereupon the ÖVP mayor was investigated for incitement to hatred.
Lawyer's invoice "corrected"
Koza "corrected" the invoice from the Kinderfreunde lawyer and initially charged it to the municipality's fire department account. Although he later transferred the amount back, an anonymous complaint was filed against him. He was then investigated for embezzlement and falsification of documents. All proceedings have now been discontinued, but Koza has to pay more than 2,000 euros in diversion for manipulating the invoice - which, however, cannot be considered a guilty verdict in legal terms.
"For me, this chapter is finally closed," explains Koza. The ÖVP politician sent a flyer to all households in Vösendorf informing them of the public prosecutor's decision. After all, as reported, an early local council election will be held in the town in the district of Mödling on May 5.
