"Kill the teacher"
Deadly game at school
Two 14-year-old boys from Styria planned to wipe out their teachers and pupils by playing "Russian roulette". The two boys will soon go on trial.
Recent outbreaks of violence at Austrian schools have caused horror. It was only recently revealed that suspensions in Austrian classes have almost doubled in the past four years. The "Krone" newspaper has now learned of another case that leaves us speechless.
Pictures of weapons sent on Snapchat
Two boys aged just 14 will soon be standing before the criminal court in Leoben, as spokeswoman Sabine Anzenberger confirms. "Criminal conspiracy" is the offense the two milk boys are accused of. According to the Leoben public prosecutor's office, they allegedly "conspired to commit murder together" in January, as the relevant section of the penal code states.
They said on Snapchat that they wanted to play "Russian roulette" at their school in Upper Styria. In the game, there is only one cartridge in a revolver. The player holds it to their temple and pulls the trigger. If no shot is fired, it is the next player's turn. The end is certain, because someone is bound to die.
Remorseful apologies
The two wanted to start the death game with two teachers, followed by their classmates. They backed this up with pictures of weapons such as knives and softguns, some of which they had gathered from the internet. What they didn't expect: A pupil observed their goings-on and plucked up the courage to report everything to the principal. He filed a complaint and confronted the boys. They then apparently realized what they had done. They apologized remorsefully to the teachers and pupils concerned. However, they were not spared a trip to court.
