A Tyrolean farmer couple shows how farmers can combine dairy and meat farming. Calves are two years old and the welfare of the animals is paramount. The farmers rely on "cow-based calf rearing".

The case of the two Tyrolean organic calves, which were only transported to southern Italy for slaughter, caused a stir. Also for Christina and Christoph Ritter. The couple from Unterland, who run two organic farms in St. Margarethen (Buch near Jenbach) and Kramsach, have been successfully relying on "cow-based calf rearing" since 2020.
