Horrible find
Cockroaches in the kitchen of a Viennese restaurant!
Disgusting discovery in a restaurant in Brigittenau. The owners had to close immediately because of vermin.
It's not every day that the officers of the Emergency Measures Group see something like this: following a tip-off from the financial police, serious hygiene deficiencies were discovered in a restaurant in Brigittenau.
In addition to cockroaches, the authorities also discovered other breaches of hygiene standards. Of particular concern was the discovery of a sleeping area in the establishment, which clearly violated building regulations. The health service (MA 15) and the building police (MA 37) were also present during the inspection.
Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) commented: "The diversity of restaurants in our city contributes significantly to the quality of life of the Viennese. Non-compliance will be consistently punished, as the health of our citizens has top priority." Walter Hillerer, Head of the Immediate Measures Group, emphasizes: "Hygiene is not an option, but an obligation. We will not allow a few businesses to jeopardize trust in our city's restaurants."
Reopening only possible after inspection
Several procedures have now been initiated by the municipal departments. In order to reopen, the business must first comply with a series of measures. These include the immediate appointment of a pest controller to ensure that the cockroach problem is eliminated. A re-inspection by MA 59 is then required. If hygiene standards are fully restored, the restaurant can then open to guests.
