Confused man hit by car on highway

Unbelievable scenes took place on the Rhine Valley highway in Vorarlberg on Tuesday: An ambulance had to stop on the emergency lane because a mentally impaired patient had started to riot. Things got really wild after that.

The emergency services were unable to calm the man down. Instead, he broke free and stormed out of the vehicle. First he crossed the highway lane in the direction of Tyrol, then he climbed over the center guardrail and ran into the lane in the direction of Germany.

There he was hit by a car. Fortunately, the driver of the car had reacted quickly and slammed on the brakes, which significantly mitigated the impact. 

In any case, the mentally disturbed man was still able to get up and run towards a meadow. There, the emergency services, who had arrived in the meantime, arrested the completely distraught patient for his own protection. The injured man was then given medical treatment and taken to the shock room at Feldkirch Regional Hospital.
