Car plunges from parking garage: driver injured
A spectacular accident on Monday afternoon in the Zillertal in Tyrol: a car broke through the outside railing of a multi-storey parking lot and plunged several meters onto the forecourt of a supermarket. The 73-year-old driver was trapped in the car and had to be rescued by the fire department.
The spectacular accident happened at around 11.30 a.m. in Fügen. According to the police, the 73-year-old local man had parked his car in the parking garage on the second floor. For reasons as yet unknown, the vehicle then broke through the railing - ultimately plummeting some five to six meters.
The driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by the fire department.

The car hit the forecourt of the supermarket below and came to rest on the roof. "The driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by the fire department," said police spokesman Stefan Eder in response to an inquiry from Krone.
To hospital by helicopter
The 73-year-old suffered injuries in the accident. After initial treatment on site, he was flown to Schwaz District Hospital by emergency helicopter. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
