CO leak: fire department evacuated 13 residents

The Schwaz municipal fire department had to deal with an unusual operation on Friday morning. Carbon monoxide had escaped from an apartment due to a faulty stove. Several parties had to be evacuated. Two senior citizens ended up in hospital.

Because her husband (89) complained of feeling unwell, a local resident (85) from Schwaz called the emergency services shortly after 6 am. When the emergency services arrived, they probably discovered that the complaints had a rather unusual origin: a faulty oven.

The residents were able to return to their apartment after it had been ventilated.

Without further ado, they called the city fire department. A short time later, they evacuated 13 people from the block of flats. The eight apartments were then ventilated. "The residents were able to return to their apartments after the ventilation", according to the police. For the elderly couple who had called the ambulance, the operation ended in hospital.
