Ex-politician Marolt’s hotel company goes bankrupt

K.S. Betriebs GmbH & Co KG from St. Kanzian (Carinthia) is insolvent. The owner and managing director is the former FPÖ politician Heinz Anton Marolt. The over-indebtedness amounts to 1.67 million euros.

Liabilities amounting to 2.3 million euros are offset by assets of 630,000 euros. Employees are not affected by the bankruptcy. The Kreditschutzverband (KSV) von 1870 announced that there is now a restructuring plan with a quota of 30 percent, which must be paid within 18 months.

The reasons given for the bankruptcy of the business from St. Kanzian am Klopeiner See include massive price increases for energy and food as well as high staff costs, which could not be cushioned by higher room rates.

Turnover down due to bad weather
In addition, the rise in interest rates had led to "a significant increase in lease payments, which are linked to the capital market as agreed with the respective landlords". There were storm and flood events in the 2023 season, which led to a decline in revenue.

Owner Marolt is an ex-FPÖ politician and father of former jungle camp and Germany's Next Top Model participant Larissa Marolt. He was the FPÖ's tourism spokesman in the National Council from 1998 to 1999. He also stood as a candidate for Richard Lugner's "Die Unabhängigen" list in the 1999 National Council elections.
