Traditional hotel restarts after major fire

The Hotel Zirngast in Schladming opened in 1979, but at the end of 2024 a fire forced the operators to close it - after a comprehensive renovation of all things. What's next for the traditional business? A visit to the construction site.

On November 14 last year, Hotel Zirngast suffered a hard blow: a fire broke out in the roof truss of the newly renovated building and 85 firefighters were busy extinguishing the blaze for hours. "We were renovating two floors and were two weeks away from being locked up," says Marcel Zirngast during a visit around two and a half months after the fire.
