Trip to the funeral planned long before grandpa died

A bizarre case of absenteeism from school even occupied the Federal Administrative Court. Months before the death of her grandfather, a mother applied for special leave for a first-year pupil so that she could attend the funeral service in Gambia. However, the Education Directorate did not really want to believe this.

The new school year was just one day old when a mother applied for special leave for her first-grader. This was supposed to last from January 7th to 17th this year and follow on almost seamlessly from the Christmas vacations which ended on January 6th. The mother gave a funeral in Africa as the reason for her absence from school, but did not provide an exact date.
