Inferno reduced vacation home to ashes

A devastating fire raged in Kleinwalsertal on Wednesday. A house used as a vacation home was completely destroyed. Fortunately, the building was empty at the time of the fire and no one was injured.  

The fire was noticed by a neighbor, who immediately made an emergency call. When the fire department arrived, the entire building was already enveloped in thick clouds of smoke, which subsequently spread across the entire center of Mittelberg. Fortunately, there were no people in the building at the time. The building is currently rented by an association from Stuttgart and was last occupied a week ago. 

130 firefighters from Kleinwalsertal and the neighboring Allgäu region battled the flames for several hours - parts of the building had to be demolished in order to control them. In the end, however, nothing could be saved, the vacation home burned out completely and is now just a burnt ruin. 

Fire apparently developed slowly
The exact cause of the fire is still unclear. However, initial investigations by the State Office of Criminal Investigation indicate that the fire developed slowly in an oxygen-poor environment. The source of the fire is likely to be in the attic. Surrounding buildings were not endangered at any time.
