Illegal parking in Vienna can cost more than 400 euros

During the Advent weekends and in the run-up to Christmas, Vienna's police are once again stepping up checks on parked cars. The ÖAMTC now warns that parking illegally can cost more than 726 euros - for example, if the car is parked in a disabled or bus parking space.

According to the ÖAMTC, towing alone costs 301 euros. Added to this is the fee of eleven euros per day for storing the vehicle at the MA 48 parking lot in Simmering as well as the fine for parking in a way that obstructs traffic. This ranges from 36 to 108 euros, with fines of up to 726 euros possible for serious offenses such as parking in disabled parking spaces.

Cars parked in the second lane, in disabled parking spaces, in street or bus stops, in front of house entrances or in cab zones are particularly at risk of being towed away. According to the ÖAMTC, cars are also rigorously towed away on thoroughfares such as the Gürtel.

Caution is also advised in residents' parking lots. In the districts 1-4, 6-9, 12, 15 and 20, in addition to the short-term parking zones, there are also residents' parking spaces with costs of 36 euros. The ÖAMTC advises you to inform yourself in advance. Parking options can be viewed online.
