Car caught fire: driver drove to petrol station

Shock for a 31-year-old female driver on Monday in the Tyrolean Zillertal. Her car suddenly caught fire while she was driving. The woman drove to a petrol station. Employees rushed to the scene and began to fight the fire. Fortunately, everything turned out well in the end.

The 31-year-old Czech woman was driving out of the valley on the Tuxer Landesstraße (L6) on Monday morning when, according to the police, flames suddenly burst out of the vehicle's engine compartment.

"The woman then stopped her car at a petrol station," said the investigators. Fortunately far enough away from the petrol pumps. Nevertheless, the car was pushed to the other side of the road as a precaution.

"Thanks to the courageous intervention of a petrol station employee with a fire extinguisher, it was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to the interior," reported the fire department.

They arrived with three vehicles and 15 firefighters. "However, our work was limited to extinguishing the fire, checking with a thermal imaging camera and disconnecting the battery."

According to the police, the woman's vehicle sustained serious damage. Fortunately, no one was injured.
