Hirscher entices Maier and Neureuther during interview

With his successful World Cup comeback in Sölden, Marcel Hirscher has also caused a stir with his buddy Felix Neureuther. The man from Salzburg then enticed the German to make a comeback. "Maybe Hermann Maier is still up for it," smiled Hirscher.

After a five-year break, Marcel Hirscher is back in the Ski World Cup. With 23rd place, the 35-year-old, who is now competing for the Netherlands, immediately scored points in the giant slalom in Sölden.

From the perspective of former ski racer Felix Neureuther, there is even more to come. "He's not yet convinced that he can trust the equipment," the German analyzed on Bayerischer Rundfunk radio. Seen in this light, it is "sensational" what Hirscher has delivered: "A huge success!"

And Hirscher countered in the BR interview with a bait-and-switch. "For any of these athletes who have the opportunity - and there are only very few who have reached this level anyway - I think it would be great. Whatever form it takes, it's incredibly important for skiing. Imagine Bode Miller skiing downhill again. Or Ted Ligety, Felix Neureuther," said Hirscher with a wink.
