Discovered on the road, now nominated for MTV EMAs

Singer-songwriter Esther Graf is particularly popular with Gen Z, i.e. young people born between 1995 and 2010. However, the Carinthian, who grew up in Salzburg, started her career oldschool, just like Gisele Bündchen in her day.

Gisele Bündchen was only 14 when she was discovered by a model scout in a shopping center. Esther Graf (26) had a similar experience. "I was approached on the street and asked if I could imagine modeling. That was kind of the starting signal for my music career. It allowed me to earn money with flexible jobs and build up my music career," says Graf.

In the meantime, the 26-year-old has turned her back on Salzburg (she went to school in Bad Hofgastein) and moved to the music capital Berlin. "But I always like coming back to Austria. For example for my current tour."

Graf is performing at the Rockhouse in Salzburg tonight, with further tour stops in Germany to follow. The singer-songwriter is already looking ahead to the time after the tour: "I'll be back in the studio in November to record new songs".

For these, she always brings in prominent names from the industry to work alongside her, such as Katja Krasavice and Alligatoah. "Working with singer Cro would be my goal for the future." 

First, however, Graf has a trip to Manchester in the UK on the agenda. There she is nominated for the MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) and hopes to win an award.
