School renovation in Lehen delayed by a year

The bankruptcy of a construction company has led to a major delay in the largest school construction project in Salzburg: the renovation of the two elementary school in Lehen and the construction of the new kindergarten have been delayed by at least a year! 

For the kindergarten children in Salzburg-Lehen, their exile in the container village will last longer than expected. Because the general contractor for the new building, WRS Energie- und Baumanagement GmbH, has gone bankrupt, the major project has been delayed by a year. The city will put the project out to tender again. It is currently unclear when it will continue.

One thing is already clear: the kindergarten will not be able to move into the new building until the 2026 semester break at the earliest and not in a year as originally planned. The renovation of the elementary school will be completed in four years at the earliest and not in three. However, these are provisional dates. Further delays cannot be ruled out. 

"We are working hard to prepare the necessary steps for the new tender so that we can resume construction as quickly as possible," says Tobias Fusban, Managing Director of Stadt Salzburg Immobilien. Whether the planned costs of 50 million euros will remain is still open.
