Polcanova eliminated from Grand Smash in round 2

Table tennis ace Sofia Polcanova has been eliminated in the second round of the Grand Smash tournament in Beijing!

The Olympic fifth seed was beaten 1:3 (-4,-12,8,-4) by China's Wang Xiaotong on Tuesday.

In the men's doubles, Daniel Habesohn and Robert Gardos defeated their opening opponents El-Beiali/Abdel-Aziz (Egypt) 3-0 to advance to the round of 16. In the mixed round of 16, Polcanova/Gardos lost 3-2 to the Chinese duo Shi/Yuan.

This means that the two million dollar event is over for Polcanova. The 30-year-old will be defending her title at her home European Championships in Linz (October 15-20).
