Dietmar E.: From boy to notorious criminal
Dietmar E. committed his first crimes as a boy: Thefts, acts of vandalism, assaults. Time and again he was imprisoned, time and again he escaped from prison. In the end, together with a cellmate. As a result, the men committed the worst crime of the post-war period.
Laaber, a small market town in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg in Bavaria. It is known for its ruins of a castle dating back to the end of the 12th century - and for the Plank brewery in the middle of the town. Thirty years ago, in November 1989, one of the worst crimes of the German post-war period took place here, committed by two prison escapees from Upper Austria - Dietmar E. from Haid near Ansfelden and Helmut B. from Linz.
