A young man in Bremen has died of internal injuries after jumping from a ten-meter board. The 23-year-old hit the water with his chest and, according to a doctor's assessment, suffered fatal injuries, police said.

According to Bremen's swimming baths, two lifeguards observed on Monday afternoon how the man had jumped badly and landed. "We assume that he had an unfortunate fall," a spokeswoman for Bremen's public baths told Focus magazine.

First aid without success
The 23-year-old initially resurfaced, but made unsteady swimming movements. His state of health had visibly deteriorated. The lifeguards reacted immediately and pulled him out of the water, said the spokeswoman. They administered first aid - but without success.

According to her, when jumping from the ten-meter board, you reach a speed of around 50 km/h and should dive into the pool with as little contact with the surface of the water as possible. "If the impact surface is small, then the impact is not so violent."
