In addition to the S-Link, the city and state planning company is already working on the expansion projects. It is now clear that an environmental impact assessment is also required for the exhibition center railroad.

The Messebahn is intended to connect the exhibition center with the S-Link and thus bring a rail line from the many parking spaces at the exhibition center to the city center. The EIA authority has now determined that an environmental impact assessment (EIA) is also required for this branch of the S-Link.

This comes as no surprise to the project company. "I don't see an EIA as a hurdle, but as a further step in which our plans are examined by external experts and citizens are involved," says Monika Stöggl, head of the S-Link's legal department. According to the plans, the connection from the trade fair center to the local railway line in Itzling will cost 46 to 55 million euros.
