Castle arena reopened with “Blues & More”

The castle arena at Friedensburg has been redesigned and restored in recent months. Stadtschlaining has thus positioned itself as an absolute top location for open-air events with a unique flair

Schlaining Castle has now established itself as a cultural tourism hotspot in southern Burgenland for guests from Austria and abroad. Landesimmobilien Burgenland recently focused on the renovation of the castle arena. The new top location for open-air events, which offers space for around 600 visitors and cost around 1.3 million euros, was opened as part of the "Blues & More Festival".

"The open-air arena will increasingly be the venue for unforgettable cultural experiences in the future and now offers more seating capacity, culinary catering and a state-of-the-art stage infrastructure," emphasized Provincial Councillor Leonhard Schneemann, who performed the opening ceremony on behalf of Governor Doskozil.

Finds after archaeological excavations
In the course of the work, large quantities of pottery, glass and metal were also recovered during archaeological excavations. The finds provide an impressive insight into life at the castle, which was expanded into a palace under the Batthyány family from the 16th century onwards, according to Kulturbetriebe Burgenland.
