Heavily intoxicated mountain biker hit by car

Heavily intoxicated and without a helmet, a mountain biker was riding in the municipality of Turrach on Saturday evening when he was hit and seriously injured by a car driver.

A 52-year-old German turned off a local road onto the Turracher Bundesstraße (B 95) at around 8.20 pm on Saturday and probably overlooked the mountain biker.

The 57-year-old was hit by the car, thrown from his e-cross and ended up lying seriously injured on the road. He was flown by rescue helicopter to the UKH Klagenfurt.

"A breathalyzer test on the mountain biker revealed that he was heavily intoxicated. He was also not wearing a helmet. The car driver's breathalyzer test was negative," said the police. Further investigations are being carried out.
