ÖOC increases bonuses! This is how much money there is for gold

The Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC) has increased its medal bonuses. Instead of 17,000 euros for Olympic gold as at the last Summer and Winter Games, there will be 20,000 euros from the Games in Paris onwards.

For silver and bronze, 17,000 and 14,000 euros respectively (previously 13,000 and 11,000 euros) will be paid out in the form of Philharmonic gold coins. According to President Karl Stoss, this unanimous decision by the Executive Board was announced by the ÖOC on Friday shortly before the opening ceremony in Paris.

"A sign of appreciation"
"It is a sign of appreciation for what our athletes achieve," explained Stoss. "We are aware that this is less about the material value, it is actually about recognizing the extraordinary achievements," added ÖOC Secretary General Peter Mennel.

"These positive feelings can perhaps give one or the other the necessary extra percent for the competition." The awards are presented by ÖOC partner Münze Österreich.
