Victim seriously injured

Man beaten with a crutch at Vienna Westbahnhof station

A man was probably beaten several times with a crutch at Vienna's Westbahnhof station on Tuesday evening. The 39-year-old had previously got into an argument with a 40-year-old man, after which he was allegedly attacked with the crutch. The victim suffered serious injuries. 

An attentive passer-by immediately picked up his cell phone and called the emergency services. The two men got into an argument and the older man then allegedly hit the 39-year-old several times with his walking frame. The victim suffered several serious injuries in the attack and was immediately treated by the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and taken to hospital. 

Suspicion of grievous bodily harm
The suspect was provisionally arrested on suspicion of intentional grievous bodily harm. By order of the Vienna public prosecutor's office, the suspect was released.
