Tyrolean man injured when vole hole is blown up

A Tyrolean man (35) was seriously injured in the foot on Saturday evening because he wanted to get to grips with voles in the garden of his house. The man set off a firecracker, placed it in a hole in the ground and put his foot on it.

Shortly after 8 p.m., the local man in Wiesing (Schwaz district) wanted to use the pyrotechnic article to blow up a vole hole in the garden of his house. "According to the man himself, he placed the firecracker in the hole in the ground, lit it and covered the hole with earth," said the police.

Admitted to hospital
The 35-year-old also placed a board on the hole in the ground and put his right foot on it. When the firecracker exploded, the man was seriously injured in his right foot and had to be taken by ambulance to the district hospital in Schwaz after receiving emergency medical treatment.
